ABOUT MBED TURFPLUG
A practical idea.
Rooted in a real project.
MBED TurfPlug began with a challenge on a large municipal paving project: how to fill thousands of turf-block openings without cutting and fitting every piece by hand. That question led to a ready-made turf insert for compatible permeable pavers.

WHERE IT STARTED
2016
South Florida
A large project.
A very small detail.
A municipal overflow-parking project covering more than 100,000 square feet brought the challenge into focus. Its turf-block openings raised concerns about moving across the surface, including for people wearing heels or using a wheelchair.
Synthetic turf was considered for the openings. But at that scale, individually measuring, cutting and fitting thousands of turf pieces was a substantial task.
The challenge was in the openings.
That became the starting point.

FROM IDEA TO INSERT
Designed around
the opening.
The early solution was heavy and limited to new installations. Further development led to a lighter insert intended for both new and existing compatible paver systems.
The purpose stayed the same: simplify the work inside each opening and provide a consistent green finish across the paving.
That approach became MBED TurfPlug.
THE PRODUCT TODAY
The support underneath.
The green finish above.
Two names describe the insert and the assembled product.
MBED
The supporting insert
A perforated polyethylene insert shaped to sit within compatible concrete turf-block paver openings.
TurfPlug
The assembled product
MBED with synthetic turf preassembled on top, ready for installation into a properly prepared, compatible opening.
Part of the paving system.
Water passes through the turf and perforated insert to the prepared material below. Fit, support and site drainage remain essential to the complete installation.
A PRACTICAL FOCUS
Better details.
More considered spaces.
For architects, landscape designers, contractors, developers and homeowners, the starting point is the same: a product that fits the paving and the project. MBED TurfPlug brings a ready-made approach to one detail repeated across the surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
A closer look at the story, the product and where to begin.
What prompted the idea for MBED TurfPlug?
The idea began with a 2016 municipal overflow-parking project in South Florida covering more than 100,000 square feet. Filling its turf-block openings with synthetic turf meant individually cutting and fitting thousands of pieces. That challenge prompted the development of a ready-made insert.
What is the difference between MBED and TurfPlug?
MBED is the perforated polyethylene insert that supports the turf. TurfPlug is MBED with synthetic turf preassembled on top. The assembly fits into compatible concrete turf-block paver openings.
Is TurfPlug only for new paving projects?
The product developed from an early design limited to new installations into a lighter insert intended for new and existing compatible pavers. Existing areas need their paver condition, opening dimensions, support and drainage checked before suitability can be determined.
How does water move through the system?
Water passes through the turf and the perforated insert into the prepared material below. The complete paving system still depends on suitable base preparation and site drainage. Project requirements and the paver manufacturer’s guidance remain part of the installation.
How do I find out whether it fits my project?
Start with the paver manufacturer and model, the actual opening dimensions, and photographs of the area. Send those details through the Contact page or email info@turfplug.com. They provide a starting point for discussing fit and installation requirements.
